Only eight days after Princess inaugurated Ruby Princess, Celebrity held their festivities for their newest ship, Celebrity Solstice.

If you’ve been reading this blog, you’re not new to Solstice as we’ve documented its features in several posts. The “lawn club” seems to have drawn quite some attention, and lately some of that has turned negative. Some guests seem to think that having fresh grass under your toes isn’t a good substitute for more sunbeds.

I guess it’s important for cruise lines to keep coming up with new attractions on their ships, and god forbid they offer “more of the same”. Let’s just hope that their quest for change doesn’t take away from some of the basic features that guests expect, namely enough sunbeds.

Nevertheless, Solstice is certainly an improvement of some older ships in many areas. She has more restaurants, a glas-blowing show, and a mini Central Park to offer which will certainly win over some skeptics.

The new ships that are coming out these days are breath-taking constructions and regardless of their amenities provide a platform for what we really want and that’s to have fun.
